About the Leaky Roof

The LR has been a Portland restaurant since 1947. It originally started as a food cart and was then moved to its' current location on the corner of 16th and SW Jefferson Street in the Goose Hollow neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. Many people still comment "if you were tall enough to reach a full bucket of water from the leaking roof it was your job to take it down and dump it in the street." The restaurant and building have undergone several transformations in its' sixty plus years. The most extensive remodel was completed after a major fire badly damaged much of the building. However, the original bar and hardwood floors were preserved. You can now enjoy a three sided fireplace wherever you choose to sit and relax. Everything from pool tables to weekend comic events to a more recent organic bistro have placed their mark on the small building at 16th and Jeff. The current pub offers a wide selection of beer, wine, and of course food. We support local businesses whenever possible and also participate in Portland's Composting Program.
